Taking care of your skin during summers is more important than you think. Sweat, dirt and grime stuck onto the skin can cause a great deal of damage to it. The prime reason behind such damage is high heat and humidity atypical of this season. However, with the right skin care regime, your skin will glow even on the hottest days of the year. Here is what your skin needs and doesn’t in summer. Check out-

  • During the summer season, your skin needs a lot of cleaning. Summer heat can make it extremely difficult for your skin to stay in its routine best condition. Even naturally glowy skin can get lifeless and dull during this season. And the most important reason behind the worsening of your skin is the combining effect of accumulated sweat, dust and oil in its pores. The skin becomes so dirty, that it begins to act as a breeding ground for bacteria and other harmful microbes. As a result, skin issues like acne exacerbate. With proper cleansing, your skin will persistently look healthy, glowy and radiant. Also, your skin issues will simply not worsen.
  • Your skin also needs proper exfoliation during the summer season. Prolonged exposure to heat can cause a lot of damage to your skin. All the skin cells that die when it gets damaged, start to pile up on the skin when you don’t exfoliate. And that is why exfoliation should be a constant in your summertime skin care regime. If you have a sensitive skin, use a mild exfoliating agent rather than not exfoliating the skin at all.
  • Your skin probably doesn’t need frequent moisturising during the summer season. Since there is a lot of humidity around, your skin won’t feel extremely dry, unless and until it’s the type that cracks without frequent moisturisation. People with oily skin can, therefore, take moisturisation out of their skin care regime. If, however, you don’t feel good without moisturising your skin, then go for a mild moisturiser with a light formula.
  • During the summer season, your skin needs a good sunscreen. Go for a higher SPF product if you live in a warm climate. Apply your sunscreen over all the exposed parts of your body so that there is minimum damage to the skin when you step out of your house. For additional protection, you can wrap a scarf around you face and neck.
  • If you prefer using oils on your skin, then the summer season might not be a good time to keep doing it. Switch to a moisturiser instead. Apply the moisturiser in 2-3 coats and keep reapplying it on your skin from time to time, if you need the same amount of hydration that oils offer.
  • While summers might be the best time to sport your shorts, mini dresses and sleeveless shirts, they could sadly cause a lot of damage to your skin. Instead, go for broad hats, shades and clothes that offer better coverage of the body. By tweaking your fashion choices a little, you will sure protect your skin from sun damage during the summer months.

So, now you know what needs to be done to keep your skin looking healthy even during the scorching summer. Follow the above tips religiously, and you will know the sun can do you no harm when you don’t allow it to!
